What is a farm dog?

Does your dog enjoy training with you at home or at the park but now you are looking to provide them with an additional environment to work in? My certified AKC Farm Dog Experience may be the adventure for you! Located on the beautiful horse farm that my spouse and I manage in Chester Springs, PA I am here to provide you and your dog with natural enrichment, a safe way to interact with horses, and a chance to strengthen your training using positive reinforcement.

Private lesson (75 minutes)

Altogether we will walk around the property learning how to help your dog learn how to ignore horses, goats and wildlife. We will work on leash skills around these distractions while also getting a chance to practice saying “hello”to strangers (our farm hands). This opportunity is a great way to get out with your dog and learn something new while out in a relaxing environment!

Farm Dog Class (4 weeks):
$480

From AKC: Open to all breeds of dogs (and all disabilities), this test involves your dog performing a series of 12 exercises that are typical for a farm environment such as being in close proximity to livestock (who are always penned to avoid any altercations); jumping and staying on hay/straw bales; walking on unusual terrain; and jumping over logs. There is no herding involved. Instead, the goal is to assess his aptitude as a working farm dog by exhibiting self-control, confidence and trust with you or his handler.

After each class we take a decompression pack walk around the property for 30 minutes
You will receive an official AKC farm dog certificate after the class!

Farm Drop in Class :

Have you taken the four week Farm Dog class and now want to return back to provide your dog with another adventure? The Farm Dog Drop in Class is for all graduates of the original four week class who would like to provide their dog with something fun to do with a group of other class members. This class will be a refresh of everything you learned throughout your four weeks of Farm Dog class. I will also provide one on one attention to each student to be able to work through any behavioral questions you may have. Each class will have repeating exercises such as greeting strangers, walking over obstacles, ignoring a horse in the arena and much more.

Puppy Classes at the Farm

Are you looking for more real life situational training for your puppy? In puppy classes at the farm we will work on behaviors such as observing triggers (horses and goats), walking nicely on leash and focus on building confidence in your pup! Puppy classes are drop in based and are offered for one hour at my farm in Chester Springs PA. Join us for an hour of fun and education! Children are also welcome to join the class in learning how to train their new puppy.

Puppy socials at the farm
$50.00

Puppy socials are a way to socialize your puppy with other dogs their age in a safe and organized environment. As a certified professional trainer I can educate guardians on appropriate dog play and conduct a positive experience for all puppy attendees. Puppy socials are a way to bring out confidence in shy puppies and provide positive outlets for energetic ones. Play groups are able to be successful when they are properly managed and puppy attendee numbers are low.
